4th Annual Lake Tahoe Pilgrim Rendezvous

I’m sharing an event hosted by Camino friends Dave Jennings and Monica Armanino. An open invitation to pilgrims, both those who have walked the Caminos de Santiago and those who are planning to walk.

Friday, July 21 – Sunday, July 23

An unbelievable winter, can you imagine over 65 ft. of snow on Mt. Rose. The falls, streams and wildflowers should be spectacular.

Campsites for tent camping have been reserved at the federal Mt. Rose Campground (https://goo.gl/maps/NwfwwWdt8Ry) at the summit of Mt. Rose (NV State Highway 431 aka Mt. Rose Highway, just east of Incline Village). The campground will be the activity center for the gathering. For those wishing to attend, but not able to campout, a few local home stays are available on a first come, first served basis, as well as commercial accommodations.

Program:

Friday: Arrival, any time after 2:00 PM at Campground, private home or other.

6:00 – 7:00 PM – Get acquainted Happy Hour! Wine & appetizers. Provided by hosts. 7:00 – ??? – Community dinner (provided by the hosts)

Saturday: 9:00 AM, Breakfast at campground, provided by hosts. Followed by hike (due to very heavy snowfall 65 ft. on Mt. Rose) hike route not confirmed at this time, but usually around 7 miles. Be aware you will be at 9,000 ft. so plan for adequate water.

5:30 PM – Mass with Pilgrim blessing at the campground.

6:00 PM – Happy Hour at Campground, followed by Community dinner (provided by the hosts)

Sunday –9:00 AM breakfast by the hosts

10:00 AM, Checkout of campground; Group hike 5 – 7 miles, back for return home by 3 PM

Monica and Dave, your hosts for the Camino weekend rendezvous in Lake Tahoe.

I met Monica and Dave last year at a hike in Point Reyes (see Preparing for the Albergue Experience.) They are amazing! From what hear, they put on quite a spread at these Tahoe events. I hope to be able to attend it one of these years. Maybe this will be the year, who knows?!
